Accounting
The Bachelor of Science in Accounting at USC’s Leventhal School of Accounting offers students a robust education that combines foundational accounting principles with practical skills essential for diverse career paths. This degree requires at least 128 units including USC’s General Education requirements.
A cumulative grade point average of C (2.0) is required for all courses taken at USC as well as all upper-division courses applied toward the major, regardless of the department in which the courses are taken.

Spring 2025 Mandatory Advisement: Leventhal students who have completed 24 units or less at USC are required to meet with an academic advisor prior to registering for Spring 2025. Please schedule your appointment with an academic advisor through Advise USC, which can be found on MyUSC.
Current Leventhal Students: You can schedule an appointment with your academic advisor through Advise USC, which can be found on MyUSC. If you schedule a Zoom appointment, you will receive a Zoom link. If you schedule an in-person appointment, check-in is in ACC 101.
Non-Majors: To meet with a Leventhal advisor, please create a referral in Advise USC for your program of interest and mark yourself as “Ready for Advising.” You will then be assigned a referral advisor with whom you can meet during non-major advising.

California CPA Requirements
Leventhal's Bachelor of Science in Accounting can satisfy the educational requirements for the California State Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. For licensure in other states or territories, please review the specific requirements for that jurisdiction.
Exam Requirements
To qualify to take the California CPA Exam, you must meet the following requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree or higher
- 24 semester units in accounting subjects
- 24 semester units in business-related subjects
Licensure Requirements
To become licensed as a CPA in California, you must meet the following requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree or higher
- Passing score on the Uniform CPA Examination
- 150 semester units total
- 30 semester units in accounting subjects
- 38 semester units in business-related subjects
- 10 semester units in ethics courses
- Completion of one year of general accounting experience
- 500 hours under the supervision of a licensed CPA
When can I sit for the exam?
Candidate currently enrolled in college and within 180 days of completing all educational requirements, with a bachelor’s degree and completion of 24-semester units each in accounting and business-related subjects.

This major is a STEM program.
