IEP Host Program

Internationalization is not only spending a semester abroad; it is also taking an active part in the international study environment and activities at the Marshall School of Business.

In 2019-2020, Marshall will welcome 100+ exchange students from all around the world. They could have chosen to study at Wharton, Berkeley, or UCLA, but they made the correct choice and chose to come to USC. These students are here to study for one or two semesters, and we are honored that they have chosen to spend the semester at USC. As such, we should provide them with all of the assistance befitting such an honor. To that end, we have created the IEP Host Program.

Being a Host:

“Hosts” are Marshall majors or minors who have volunteered to help one or more of our international exchange students. The IEP Host program will provide a host (or hosts) for the exchange students who will be studying at Marshall for either the semester or year to provide help in getting through the first few weeks in the new surroundings.  This could include (but not required) e-mailing them before they arrive, picking them up from the airport, helping them find their classes, telling them where it is inexpensive to do grocery shopping, answering the questions they might have about the country they will be living in, to be a friend, etc. (And NO, they will not be living with you). Each Marshall student will be the host of 1 exchange student during the semester.

We have various events scheduled during the semester, and hosts will be expected to attend more than one of these events over the course of the semester.

In addition all hosts are expected to join their student at the Exchange student orientation on August 23, 2019 (approx. 2:30 pm)

The Host program allows Marshall students to create an international network and obtain inter-cultural competencies while at their home university. It is a unique opportunity to gain a glimpse of cultures from around the world. In addition to participating in a number of IEP sponsored events, all active hosts will receive “points” towards their IEP Study Abroad applications.

This is a unique experience that allows domestic students to interact with international exchange students and show them what makes Marshall and the greater USC community so special.

Applications for Fall 2019 can be accessed from the following link, and are due by April 30, 2019.
