Strategic Management and Consulting

Description of careers for which concentration prepares students: 
This concentration is for students interested in general management, strategic management, strategy consulting, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, investment banking and international business. All organizations today, regardless of size or industry, are faced with rapidly changing markets, new technologies, and global markets. As a result, strategy has moved to the forefront of the business agenda. Alumni are increasingly being called upon shortly after graduation to contribute their knowledge and skill in formulating and implementing new strategies, whether they are acting as consultants, staff planning experts, or managers within the firm.

Leadership and Organization

Description of careers for which concentration prepares students:
The Leadership and Organization concentration prepares students for three kinds of careers. First, this concentration helps students learn how better to lead and manage people -- leadership and people management skills are the single most important factor in managerial career success. Second, it prepares students for careers in consulting on the design of effective organizations and people systems and on the management of organizational change. Third, it prepares students for in-house roles such as "HR generalist" and "internal organizational consultant."

Graduate Certificate in Strategy and Management Consulting

Students who wish to receive formal recognition of their dedication to a career in strategy and consulting should consider the Graduate Certificate program in Strategy and Management Consulting.

The curriculum of the Graduate Certificate is very similar to the concentration in Strategic Management and Consulting (above).

Units earned in the process of completing the certificate can be applied to the MBA, MMS, MSBA and some other master's degree programs at USC as long as the certificate is completed before or in the same semester as the master's degree. Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate program is documented on the graduate's USC transcript and acknowledged with a diploma issued by USC.

Graduate Certificate in Sustainability and Business

Business is increasingly involved in social and environmental issues. On the one hand, government and civil society are exerting increasing pressure on the business sector to help address the world’s pressing social and environmental sustainability challenges, and on the other, a growing number of businesses are seeking to respond proactively to these challenges. Students who wish to receive formal recognition of their dedication to playing effective leadership roles in this expanding arena should consider the Graduate Certificate in Sustainability and Business. 

The curriculum of this Graduate Certificate is very similar to the concentration in Sustainability, Society, and Business.

Units earned in the process of completing the certificate can be applied to the MBA, MMS, MSBA and some of the other master's degree programs at USC as long as the certificate is completed before or in the same semester as the master's degree. Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate program is documented on the graduate's USC transcript and acknowledged with a diploma issued by USC.
