Access to Subject Pools & Panels

 

The lab offers access to subject pools to all full-time Marshall Faculty and Ph.D. students. Researchers from other USC departments may also request access for a fee. Additionally, we provide access to external panels through MTurk and Prolific. If you are interested in accessing any of these participant pools or would like to view their demographic makeup,  contact us.

Internal Subject Pools

BUAD 304/497 Subject Pool 

Reserved for: Management and Organization (MOR) Department 

Participants: Students enrolled in BUAD 304 and BUAD 497 

BUAD 307 Subject Pool 

Reserved for: Marketing (MKT) Department 

Participants: Students enrolled in BUAD 307 

Compensated Subjects Pool 

Open to: All members of the Marshall Behavioral Research Lab and approved, sponsored USC researchers 

Participants: Individuals signed up for paid studies

MTurk and Prolific Panels 

Open to: All members of the Marshall Behavioral Research Lab 

Participants: Diverse pool of online participants 

Fee Structure: Directly charged to the researcher 

Lab Services: Participant compensation and platform fees are directly charged to the researcher. The lab offers services in data collection, participant compensation, and expense reconciliation but does not cover these direct costs.

How to Request Access

Eligibility: 

Marshall Faculty members and Ph.D. students in MOR and MKT are eligible for direct access to their respective internal pools. 

All members of the Marshall Behavioral Research Lab can access MTurk and Prolific panels through the lab. 

Researchers from other USC departments may request access  for a fee (Compensated Subjects Pool only) 

Process: 

- Contact the Lab Manager to express your interest in accessing the subject pool(s) or external panels. 

- Specify Your Needs: In your email, please include: 

        Your department and school affiliation within USC 

        The specific subject pool(s) or panel(s) you're interested in accessing 

        A brief description of your research project 

- For USC non-Marshall researchers: Acknowledge your understanding that access may involve a fee 

- For MTurk/Prolific: Indicate if you need the lab's services for data collection, compensation, and reconciliation.  

- Review Process: The lab manager will review your request and provide the necessary information and next steps.

Important Guidelines

- Ensure your research has received proper IRB approval before requesting access to any participant pool. 

- Adhere to all ethical guidelines and platform-specific policies when conducting your research. 

- Respect participant time and provide accurate time estimates for your studies. 

- Promptly award credit or compensation to participants upon study completion. 

- For USC non-Marshall researchers, ensure timely payment of any associated fees. 

- For MTurk/Prolific studies, work closely with the lab to manage participant compensation and expense reconciliation.
