I started off the weekend by going to this place in Hongdae recommended by a Korean local friend I met earlier in the week. It was spicy chicken feet! This restaurant is called “Hanshin Pocha” which is super popular here. I think I waited in line for about one hour and half on a Friday night. This was my very first time having spicy Korean chicken feet, and I loved it! It is always exciting to try out new cuisine. Then I went to watch some street busking in Sinchon nearby which are street performers ranging from dancing, singing, and more talents!
My friends and I visited the Apgujeong Rodeo the next day. This is like the Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, but a Korean version. The area is very upscale and extremely nice. Since I am still a student and have no income, I only walked around and went window shopping which was still very fun! I grabbed dinner at this place called, “Aquamen”. I saw there were so many people lining up so my friends and I gave it a try. We ordered chicken kalguksu which is a Korean noodle dish consisting of handmade knife-cut wheat flour noodles. Yet again, another amazing dish.
During the weekday, I was able to meet up with my KUBA buddy. We went to a Korean Army Stew restaurant near my dormitory. This was our first time meeting, so it was exciting getting to know each other. I learned a lot more about KU and Korean culture through my buddy! She treated us to this delicious croffle (croissant and a waffle) afterwards. I added ice cream on the side, because it was recommended by the waitress. Learned how to play a couple Korean games, before it hit 2:00pm and we had to say goodbye due to class starting. I still have online classes, so I went to a nearby cafe and watched my Zoom lectures there.
I enrolled in one course really late, so I spent the majority of the week trying to catch up on lecture videos. I think I actually found a good balance between dividing time to study and hang out with my friends. The best method I feel that worked best for me was to get every school related thing done in the morning and afternoon. I feel the night time is always the most fun for me, so I like to schedule hangouts with my friends after 6pm. I also think the scenery at night is the best in Seoul as the city is so lively and bright!
That wraps up my Week 3 in Korea, can’t wait to see what adventures I will encounter next week.
