On the 19th, the USC-SJTU Global Executive MBA program held another GEMBA Forum, our regular seminar on mainland Chinese businesses going global. This week’s Forum theme was “Business Strategy in the Internet + Era”. More than 150 guests attended.
Our two featured speakers were two pioneers in the Internet + era: Michael Jiang, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Senior Vice President of Dianping.com(大众点评网), and Yi Wang, Co-founder and CEO of Liulishuo(英语流利说).
Michael Jiang offered his views on the development of Internet-related businesses in the past decade, but more importantly, given his role as CSO, shared his projections of what to expect in the coming several years, from infrastructure to transparency to mobility.
Wang Yi shared his passion to support language learning globally, eventually moving beyond Chinese learner of English to learners of languages worldwide, in many cultures and economies.
Two renowned GEMBA faculty, Prof. Arvind Bhambri, a recognized global leader on business and corporate strategy and Prof. Shantanu Dutta, a tenured chair-holder at USC Marshall in marketing, joined Jiang and Wang for a panel discussion, followed by a Q&A session with our GEMBA students and other members of our community.
